Speaker Bios:
Suzanne Harrison (Moderator)Founder, Percipience LLC; Author, (Edison/Einstein in the Boardroom); IP futurist
Percipience is a board-level advisory group focused on IP strategy and management, quantifying and mitigating IP risk. Her work with clients gives her a unique view of the inner workings of the public market for patents, as well as the ability to see patterns and predict ways in which markets will fluctuate and develop. She is an author, patent futurist, and economist.

Paul Roberts, Chair, LES Intangible Assets in the BoardroomStandards Committee;  Of Counsel, IP Attorney and Strategist, Snyder Clark Lesch Chung 
Paul is currently the founder and chair of LES’ Standards Committee on Intangible Assets in the Boardroom, as well as being Of Counsel with an IP-boutique law firm. He has been on the LES US-Canada board for 15 years, prior to being in lead business negotiation roles as head of IP Strategy at British American Tobacco in London, and at GE Ventures. Paul has also led patent operations at two fortune 500 companies (Accenture and MCI/WorldCom); been co-founder of two start-ups; been VP of Patent Commercialization of Rovi’s patent licensing operation; and was also a USPTO Patent Examiner. He has achieved “fellowship” status with the National Association of Corporate Directors, and completed the Stanford Law (Board) Directors’ College.

Gillian Fenton, Senior Counsel, Vaccines Legal Operations – Innovation and Business Development, GSK;President, LES
At GSK Vaccines, Gillian is the sole North American attorney for significant business development transactions (acquisitions, in-licenses, collaborations, out-licenses, and asset divestments). Gillian’s practice also includes a wide variety of collaborations and R&D funding agreements with U.S. Government entities (NIH/NIAID, BARDA and DARPA). Prior to joining GSK, Gillian was Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Emergent BioSolutions Inc., where she founded the IP department and oversaw all IP activities in support of Emergent’s IPO and subsequent growth through M&A. Prior to joining EBS, while in-house counsel at Biogen Inc., Gillian led all IP activities in support of market launch of a new biotherapeutic product and secured a favorable outcome in a precedential patent interference proceeding. 

Jay Yonamine, Head of Data Science, Ops & Quality, Global Patents, Google
Jay is the head of data science for the global patents team at Google. Prior to Google, he held data science and product management positions at legal, insurance and social media companies, and has consulted in e-commerce and various government agencies including the DoD and NGA. Jay holds a Ph.D. in political science from Penn State University, where he leveraged machine learning and NLP to forecast political instability.

Alexandra Rehmeier, Senior Manager IP Advocacy and Governance, Boeing Intellectual Property
Alex’s current leadership role is in developing and integrating external and internal IP policies, procedures and processes, applying IP protection strategies and plans in Company Initiatives and developing enterprise learning resources.  In previous roles, Alex managed licensing, valuation, enforcement and compliance groups, including auditing of license agreements. She has been involved with the LES IP Valuation Standards Initiative since its formation. Alex also participates in the Aerospace Industries Association, Intellectual Property Committee, where she works on education and policy issues with colleagues from other aerospace companies, specifically regarding software and data rights in Department of Defense contracting.  Alex attended Bucknell University (B.S. Business Administration) and received her Executive MBA at University of California, Irvine.
